The Best Water

South Monroe County has the best water in the country.
Really. The water the county provides to its 1,354 customers on the south end was named the best-tasting water in the USA this week at the convention of the American Water Works Association in San Diego. Read about it here.
The water actually is treated and distributed by the Macon Water Authority. But the MWA provides the water for the south Monroe County system -- after a 50 percent mark-up of course. But it sure tastes good.
Marie Allen, manager of the county water system, said the award is good news. She said the key is the way the Macon Water Authority treats water before pumping it out to customers. Macon's water comes from the Ocmulgee River.

"The water actually is treated and distributed by the city of Macon"
Actually the Macon Water Authority is a separate government from the City of Macon.
