Tell Marshall NO on cap and trade today
Today we should learn whether our congressman, Jim Marshall, is willing to crater the U.S. economy and hurt American families to appease environmental extremism dressed up as pseudo-science.
The U.S. House is expected to vote today on cap and trade legislation, which is basically a tax on the use of energy. The Democrats believe they can change the weather (ie global warming) by imposing more burdens and regulations on commerce, autos and power plants.
Your power bills will go up if this becomes law.
My friend Erick Erickson, editor of Redstate.com and Macon resident, has a few interesting quotes showing even Democrats understand this:
Democrat John Dingell (D-MI) says is "a tax and it’s a great big one."
Democrat Charlie Melancon (D-LA) says, "I believe this bill would create an undue burden on families who are already paying too much in energy bills."
Democrat Mike Ross (D-AR) says of Cap and Trade, "‘If you don’t like $4-a-gallon gasoline, you’re really not going to like your electric bill sometime between now and 2030."
So, contact Jim Marshall at (202) 225-6531 or e-mail Jim.Marshall@mail.house.gov and tell him to vote NO on cap and trade.

I thought this bill was only for big companies, to make them energy efficient, so that our power bills would not go up.
The tax will hit big companies, but guess where big companies get their money from: customers. If you have electricity in your home, that means you. A power company can only pay taxes by hiking the rates we pay. Class warfare against the "rich" and "big companies" winds up hurting all of us. It's TRUE trickle down economics. Click the link to see the Wall Street Journal's excellent editorial on the subject today. Key sentence: "Americans should know that those Members who vote for this climate bill are voting for what is likely to be the biggest tax in American history." Need way say more?

Yes, I see your point. However, I believe the goal is to become more energy efficient, and to find alternate energy sources. That can only help in the long run.
The federal government wants to get into your home. They want to control your homeowner association. Control is power. Power is $$$ to the politician. Many, many thanks to Rep Marshall for voting NO to the horrible, corrupt cap and trade bill.
