Massachusetts Miracle?

Will a Massachusetts Miracle stop Obamacare on Tuesday? Oh the irony would be delicious. This video is terrific. Who'd a thought the liberal voters of the Bay State might save us from a giant step toward government takeover of America?

Cafferty: Speaker Pelosi a horrible woman

What does crotchety liberal CNN commentator Jack Cafferty think of liberal House Speaker Nancy Pelosi?

"What a horrible woman she is."

Well, he does make a case. Wolf Blitzer can hardly contain his embarassment. See the clip here.

Letter from London: I like America

Feeling depressed? Down about being part of the nation for which our president has to apologize almost daily? Read this surprising commentary from a British visitor on what he likes -- yes, really likes -- about America. He says Americans are more friendly. And if America is friendly, I like to think the Deep South and Monroe County, Ga. is more so. Now go and do likewise.

Who's Obama? Prime Minister Attlee of course

Americans trying to figure out President Obama have likened him to everything from Franklin Roosevelt to the anti-Christ to, worse still, Jimmy Carter. But Andrew Stuttaford of National Review makes a strong case here that Obama most closely resembles British prime minister Clement Attlee. A politician who hid his socialist ambitions behind a bland demeanor, Attlee upset a war leader (Churchill) and then socialized British medicine and most of its society, a move from which the British have yet to recover. It's a sobering warning of what the current crisis may foretell.

College football: George Will edition

Since many of us just watched Alabama win another national title, it's a good time to link to today's George Will column. Read it here.

Is college football grossly over-emphasized and does it make a mockery of higher education? Of course. But Americans still love it. As Will notes, it was Crimson Tide legend Bear Bryant who said, "It's kind of hard to rally 'round a math class." And then there was the University of Oklahoma president who seriously intoned: "We're trying to build a university our football team can be proud of."

Tiger needs Christ, and so do I

I've always liked Brit Hume, the former ABC News and now Fox News TV analyst.

He's come under fire for suggesting Sunday that in the wake of his exposed sins, Tiger Woods needs redemption. Hume said Tiger, who's professed no real religious belief in the past, needs Christianity.

In an interview here with Christianity Today, Hume talks about how his own son's suicide forced him to embrace Jesus Christ out of his own desperation. Hume makes the point many people miss: That the moral failings of professed Christians like Mark Sanford and Ted Haggard are not failures of Christianity, but evidence of its truth. That is, when Jesus said He came not for the well, but for the sick, not for the righteous but the unrighteous -- that is Good News for all of us. Thank you for speaking the truth in love, Brit Hume.

Hilarious video

You must see this. Hilarious -- this comedian exposes how spoiled we are today. Nostalgia is tempting, especially in times like these. But sometimes it makes us forget how good we've got it.
