College football: George Will edition
Since many of us just watched Alabama win another national title, it's a good time to link to today's George Will column. Read it here.
Is college football grossly over-emphasized and does it make a mockery of higher education? Of course. But Americans still love it. As Will notes, it was Crimson Tide legend Bear Bryant who said, "It's kind of hard to rally 'round a math class." And then there was the University of Oklahoma president who seriously intoned: "We're trying to build a university our football team can be proud of."
